Deed in my name Mortgage in Mom name-whose name on Home Owners Ins Policy?

My home which is now in my name was originally in my mom's name. Her name is only on the mortgage and homewoner's insurance policy. Now that the house deed is in my name only whose name should the homeowner's policy be in?

Deed in my name Mortgage in Mom name-whose name on Home Owners Ins Policy?
I would imagine both you, as owner, and the bank, as mortgagee. The bank is entitled to be paid back their interest should there be a catastrophe affecting the property's condition, and you as owner should have the ability to file claims for damage, defects, etc.

Now, your mom should probably be added as an "additional insured" the same way I might add a property manager to a policy covering a rental property if they routinely enter the property.

Most people don't add their children to their policy, or tenants, just the owner and the bank.
Reply:Probably both, but you need some professional help here. It is unusual for the house to be in your name and the mortgage to be in hers. Ordinarily the house has to be in the name of the person who holds title to the property.
Reply:Insurance policy for title or for home insurance?

How did the title transfer from your mother to you? Missing information in this question, so contact your insurance agent or the title company for assistance.
Reply:You shouldn't need an atty. for this one. If the insurance agent can't answer the question, get a new one.

Question:

How can the be a deed if $$$ (mortgage) is still owed?
Reply:Yours

Should a sole proprietor file taxes under his name or the name of his business?

Should a sole proprietor file taxes under his name or under the name of his business?

Also, some of my BUSINESS expenses are under my name and others under my business name, can I include both in my tax return?

Should a sole proprietor file taxes under his name or the name of his business?
A sole proprieter files their taxes under their own name as it is. All business related income and expenses are reported on Schedule C.

You should never comingle your business and personal expenses. Pay all of your business expenses out of your business accounts and pay all of your personal expenses out of your personal account.

The only comingling of your accounts should be limited to capital additions and withdrawals of capital.
Reply:As a sole proprietor, you file one tax return for yourself including the business. The 1040 is under your name. It doesn't matter whether you bought items for your business using your name or in the business name - if they're allowable business expenses you deduct them the same way no matter which name you bought them in.
Reply:The proper way is to file them as John Doe, dba Mybusiness
Reply:You file your business under your personal taxes unless you are a parnership or corporation. You can use all the expenses as long as they are legitimate and you have receipts.
Reply:A sole owner.. Is DBA...... Your name is the business....'most of the time' same difference..

You kinda have to file under your business...Because as a sole prop.. you are the business..and the one liable...

And, I would suggest getting a regular accountant for all of quarterly DBA taxes... This will make it easier,
Reply:You file a 1040 using your name and SS#, like everyone else. On Schedule C, line C, you enter the business name, if there is one.

My birth certificate says name different than name registered with social security. how do i use an aka?

My mother, i just recently found out, switched two names after getting birth certificate. Now i am having trouble with DMV etc. because my name i have used for many years doesnt match what is on birth certificate. Should i just us an AKA and do i

register it legally somehow.

My birth certificate says name different than name registered with social security. how do i use an aka?
The state goes by your Social Security Administration information. You would need to contact your local social office and follow their steps to legally change your name. It's a process. You can find more information on their website:

www.ssa.gov

Because the laws are tightening because of illegal immigration and the rise in identity fraud it's a good time to look into doing this. It's only going to get harder as the years go on.

Hope this helps...

What are some alternate names for the name Monroe?

I am trying to find someone in my genealogy. By alternate names I mean a common nickname or shortening. Similar to how sometimes people named Robert go by Bob. I am thinking that he went by another name because I cant find him on any census's

What are some alternate names for the name Monroe?
That's a hard one. Because it doesn't have a common nickname, the likelihood is that if he had one, it was way out of the realm of normal thinking.

Here's a good example. My dad had 6 stepbrothers and a stepsister. Would you have ever imagined these were their given names and that these nicknames belonged to them?

Clarence: Wimp

Vincent: Windy

Tom: Clutch

Erwin: Baldy

Victor: Cap

Caspar: Honey

Aileen: Burt

At some point, logic leaves the bestowal of nicknames.
Reply:First, I would check the 3 variant forms: Monro, Munro and Munroe.

Do you know his middle name?
Reply:you could edit or repost, giving his name and names of siblings/ parents, if you know them. We can give it a run. If US, has to be 1930 or earlier.. 1901 for UK.
Reply:Monroe can also be spelled Monro or Munro, if that's any help. I can't seem to find any shortenings of the name.
