What is wrong with Eunice as a first name? last name is winn?

I know the name is not common like other names but that what I want. Something different and unique. Please give me example if you think it is a bad name.

What is wrong with Eunice as a first name? last name is winn?
Eunice was a great name about 60-70 yrs ago!





Eunice makes me think of that TV show- Momma's Family.

Reply:There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. It has Greek roots, a combination of the prefix "eu" which means "good" or "well" (e;g., eulogy, "good word"; euphoria, which originally meant ability to bear a child well, or good fertility, from eu + pherein; eurhythmic; etc.) and "nikos" which means "victory" (yup, the company name Nike comes from the name of the Greek goddess of victory, Nike),





So "Eunice" means "good victory"! Nothing wrong with that! The name very nicely fits the founder of the Special Olympics, Eunice Kennedy Shriver.





And by the way, if you're a Christian, then a plus point would be that Eunice is also the name of Timothy's grandmother, as cited in 2 Timothy---a very strong believer who passed on her faith to her daughter Lois and her grandson Timothy.

Reply:I don't dislike it because it's old. I think that many old names are beautiful and fresh. I just personally don't like Eunice for the reason that it begins with "Eww" and I just don't like that.





But at the same time, it's not HORRIBLE. It's definitely within the range of girls' names and if you find it beautiful, it's what you should use.

Reply:I think Eunice is nice. It is definitely old-school, but those kind of names are making a comeback. Anyway, I'd rather go with a solid, sort of classic name than one that is really hip for a few years, then seems really dated by the time the kid is an adult. Plus she will probably be the only Eunice in her class!
Reply:I think the name Eunice is a very good name. I know a girl who's name is Eunice and she is only in her 20's. I have never heard her complain about her name. It's your baby. Don't worry about what other people think.

I like old names a lot. They seem fresher than the make-y up-y names that seem to making the circuit lately.
