If my sister has a boy she is naming it Anders... Do you like this name?

I know there are many different ways to pronounce it, but what is the "proper" way?

Wow, that is an interesting name choice. Why does she want to name her son that. It sounds more like a last name, not a first name. An ders???
Reply:Is it like Andre? (on-dre) In spanish its Andres. But if its Anders, that sounds like Sanders. That sounds weird.
Reply:thats horrid
Reply:It's ok...different thats for sure..
Reply:Love it!
Reply:Not a big fan, but there are worse names. It just seems like it's missing something... like it got cut off.

If your sister is set on the name, I'm sure that you and your family will learn to love it once it's associated with your sweet little nephew.

I would actually prefer Andrew, Andre, Andres, or Anderson. Anders could be a nickname for Anderson.

On pronunciation:

I've always heard it pronounced like "ganders," but without the "g."

Good luck to your sister.
Reply:ive never heard of it

if thats the correct spelling

i guess

Ann-Durz

or On-Durz

but ive heard of andres

which is On-Dray

or An-Dray
Reply:To be honest I really don't like it.
Reply:why people dissing this name?

this name badass
Reply:Well...honestly, I don't care for this name. But I also wasn't aware that there were "many different ways to pronounce it," therefore I can't tell you the "proper" way.
Reply:uh. not really.
Reply:鈾モ櫏鈾モ櫏鈾?i love it sooooo much!!!!!鈾モ櫏鈾モ櫏鈾ts reely cool!!!!
Reply:Ehh, I don't really like that name.

Reminds me of Kernel Sanders. :P
Reply:i'm pretty sure it's a scandinavian name that is traditionally pronounced on-ders but the americanized pronunciation is ann-ders. i like it, and that is a traditional spelling.
Reply:Im not really feeling that name. It kinda reminds me of the name Anderson.
Reply:My cousin's 5 year old son is named Anders. I think it is adorable and it fits him well. They pronounce it just as it looks "Ann-Ders". Like Anderson with the "on".
Reply:Not really, Sorry
Reply:Save your nephew from future humiliation. Tell your sister that name is gonna make his son get ridiculed.
Reply:I like it, it's not as bad as some people are saying. Everybody can say something negative about almost any name.

But there are notorious names that almost everyone will something bad about.

Why not Anders, definitely different, but not horrid.
Reply:Hahaha, people in this post are so mean. :( lol
