How do people with hyphenated last names name their children?

If someone with a hyphenated last name (Smith-Jones) marries someone else also this a hyphenated last name (Adams-Brown), what last name do the give to their children?

How do people with hyphenated last names name their children?
Smadams-Brones.. lol..they give their children the husbands last name normally
Reply:Most of the time they child gets the fathers last name. I hyphenated my surname when I got married to my husband cause I didn't want to give up my surname but he wanted me to take on his. Our daughter has just got his surname
Reply:I don't know I assume their fathers name it doesnt have to be hyphenated at all.
Reply:Joe Smith-Jones-Adams-Brown?
Reply:guess u could do Adam-Smith, if u wnat to use 1 of each parent, pick the one u want from each

just remember to put in a hyphen cuz when my brother was born she meant to name him sanderson-barker, but she forgot the hyphen so sanderson is considered part of his middle name.
Reply:well tradition is that the children take the fathers name well this is what happened with me as i got my dads hyphenated name. but some people tend to make a combination of the names. i think we should stick to tradition and think of the kids when we start making up names. just take the fathers name!!!!!
Reply:My friend has the hyphenated last name. She is, example Jane Smith-Jones.
Reply:Tradition dictates that these people pick the name that sounds most ridiculous OR the name that can be most easily twisted into something REALLY FUNNY!
