I'm thinking of naming my daughter Xochilt, which is an Aztec name. This is pronounced "so-cheel" ?

What do you all think?

whatever floats your boat. its your baby....

but i would not do that to her... lol. she would be having to REALLY correct people on her name and they might make fun of her.
Reply:well I would never know how to say it on my own I would say oh chilt sorry it is to hard
Reply:where will you be raising her?

What will her middle name be? will you refer to her by that more often?' do you plan to put a name tag on her for spelling w/ pronunciation so others MIGHT get it correct?

I love different names %26amp; enjoy learning how to pronounce them. Most teen cashiers get instantly embarrassed but I always stress that I like different types %26amp; don't want to say it wrong; I also tell them my name which helps to relax the situation. Then I talk to them about how they got this name %26amp; tell them how I got mine. I repeat their name until I can say it correctly too. It helps break the ice with ppl becoming so snooty these days.
Reply:BAD IDEA SISTER!
Reply:I think its a beautiful name, my daughters name is Nevaeh, which is heaven spelled backwards!
Reply:no especially if its in the usa. CHILDREN ARE MEAN THESE DAYS.
Reply:At first I was like, what in the world kind of name is that but I adore that it is an ethnic name, and love that it starts with an X, totally out there ( I like being out there, my husband does not, we settled on Rylee, out there spelling, normal name, whatever)
Reply:She's going to hate you. She is also going to go through years of intense emotional therapy
Reply:Cool name, however she is going to have to spell it out EVERY time. And constantly tell people how it's pronounced.

I've lived with doing this for 30 years...it's annoying! At least simplify the spelling for her!
Reply:her teachers are going to have trouble pronouncing her name.....

i can guarantee you that....

but other than that its a nice name....

heard it a couple of times....
Reply:What I think is that you'd better sign her up for toddler Karate, because she's gonna need it before she's out of elementary school...

A name like that (and no offense) will get her a life-time of teasing, confusion when she is trying to get a job, go to the doctor, and will have her dreading being called for role the first day of every class she ever goes to.

Studies show that a very, very unusual name can be a real burden on a child, so think carefully before you choose...because she may turn 18 and settle on something totally different...
Reply:i love the name, I also like Soraya
Reply:over done. trying tooooooo hard. try again.
Reply:It's certainly unique :) I like the fact that it's Aztec too, That makes it even more rare!

But your daughter might be teased alot if she has a name that's TOO rare! Many would mis-pronounce it, Mis-spell it, and it would also be very confusing when she went for appointments, or on dates! Maybe It could become her middle name instead?
Reply:one of my really good friends is named xochitl. it's a cute name. but don't expect people to know how to say it though. we say it "so-chee"

but we know it's supposed to be "so-cheel"

and it's spelled xochitl. not quite like yours but the same gist, i guess. name your kid whatever you want. that's the one thing she'll always have that you gave her. besides dna, of course. =)
Reply:love it so new and adorable..
