I'm naming my little boy Nikolas, but am not sold on his middle name?

Nikolas Alexander. Does this sound like too mythological and powerful? I don't want him to be made fun of. I like both names, but not sure how it sounds. What other names go with Nikolas? By the way his twin sister will be names Daniella Olivia.

Those are both really nice choices. There absolutely nothing tease-worthy about Nikolas Alexander. In fact, it's about as normal as a baby name can be! In 2006, Nicholas (with the "ch" spelling) was the 17th most popular boys' name in the U.S., and Alexander was ranked #12. They are both somewhat regal names (having been used by czars, popes, saints, and kings), but they have become common enough that no one thinks immediately of Saint Nicholas or Alexander the Great upon hearing the names.





From the names I've heard suggested on here at least, it seems Alexander is a really common middle name for boys. It sounds good with a lot of first names. If you still don't have your heart set on it, I would almost advise you to go the other way and find something a little LESS common. If you are choosing a rather common first names, the middle name slot is a great place to be more daring. I would be happy to post some suggestions if you told me how many syllables are in your last name and what letter it begins and ends with.





As far as Daniella Olivia goes, I think it's lovely. I like that you have given her a first name that is less common but still very familiar. Olivia is beautiful, but it's become so popular I would be hesitant to use it as a first name. (It's been in the top 10 for at least six years.) It makes a great complement to Daniella, though. When taken together, the name has a nice Spanish-Italian vibe.

It isn't something that he would be teased about. Everyone says that my sons name is a soap opera name or sounds like a rich persons name and it does, but I don't mind. I love it.

Reply:Although I dont really have any other ideas for a middle name for you I do think it would sound better if it werent so long. I really like both Nikolas and Alexander...but together it is a bit long. If I think of a good middle name though I will let you know =)
