I promised my grandfather when I was 14 that I would name my first child after him. His name is Sidney. Recently Sydney has become a popular girls name. My brother and I are very close and I decided to use his name as well, Cameron. So I changed the spelling for my little girl Camryn. I am just worried its not a strong enough name.
I'm naming my daughter after two men, the name I picked is Sydney Camryn. Is that name too boyish?
ok so i love the name the wa it is dont switch the two.... i wanted to know what they meant soo i researched a little.
Sydney means-
Contraction Of St. Denys.
The origin of the name Sydney is French.
Unisex Name.
Camryn Means -
Bent Nose.
The origin of the name Camryn is American.
Boy's Name
it came up camryn as "bent nose..." and as a boy name....
Sydney isnt that bad of a deffinition... but BENT NOSE?. i wouldnt let my kid look up her name ...EVER we had to for school though,.......
still its not to mannly....
RIGHT?
Reply:I think it is just fine for a girl. I never knew Sidney to be a boys name (first time I saw someone with that name it was the movie Scream where the girl's name is Sidney...)
Reply:The are really nice names, although I would keep the spell Cameron rather than Camryn
Reply:i absolutely love that name!! i was thinking of camryn for a girl also! i think it is very sweet that you are naming them after two important ppl in your life.
Reply:It's a fine name, but I'd alter the spelling to avoid so many Y's-
Sydney Cameron gets my vote!
Reply:very cute!!!!
Reply:Oh my gosh I LOVE THAT NAME!!!!!! I almost want to steal it lol jk I wont!!!!
Reply:yes NAME HER THAT
Reply:oh em jee!! that is so cute. so NOT boyish. [:
Reply:Great names, but I'm glad my Mom gave me my own name. No bad feeling on either side of the families that way.
Reply:Yes, it's too masculine.
Reply:Not really boyish, but I don't think the 2 sound good together.
Reply:I thnk that name is beautiful and full of meaning. Use it and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
Reply:No i LOVE it!!!
Reply:Definitely not boyish. I've seen lots of girls with both of those names, so no problem there.
Reply:I think it's too boyish. I would use either Sydney or Cameron (and spell it right!), but together, they're too much. Sydney and Cameron aren't bad on girls, as long as they're spelled right and paired with a very girly middle name. The sentiment you're going for is great, but why not save Cameron for a second child?
Other ideas for a middle name:
Sydney Jane
Sydney Naomi
Sydney Isla
Reply:I don't like the y sounds with Sydney Camryn, I like Camryn Sydney better
Reply:not boyish, but the 3 y's are a bit much.
Reply:I love Sydney Camryn, and you're right Sydney is a popular girl's name. And it doesn't sound to boyish. Around where I live, no one would ever mistake Sydney Camryn for a guy.
Awesome name! And I like the y's instead of using i's, it makes the names look better!
Reply:I love it! My 13 year old daughters name is Camryn spelled the same as yours lol good luck.
Reply:I like both names alot for a girl. Not so shore I like them together. You could use one for this child and one for a child down the road. I realy like the way you spelled Camryn.
Reply:I like it too! I love the name Sydney!
Reply:Camryn Sydney
My son's name is Landen Sydney. Sydney is a family name for us..
But I think it would be better if you switched places with the names....But I totally adore both names.
Reply:I like the name its cute!
Reply:Misspelling Cameron doesn't make it feminine!!!
Reply:I like it, and I don't think it's too boyish. If Sydney is too popular for you, go with calling her Camryn in public, or at school.
Reply:I think its a great name, I agree with the first poster about 3 Y's being a little much.
Why not spell the cameron like its supposed to instead of changing it to a Y. I think the cameryn looks weird anyway. great choice in name though~
Reply:It's not too mannish but there are a lot of Ys.
