i like sydney a lot. i've had it chosen for a dog name whenever i got a dog for forever. but now i think it may sound too much like sit.

I like Sydney.. A puppy we sold to a couple.. they named him Sydney and he is 6 next January.. He doesn't have a problem at all with his name or mixing up Syd with Sit...
Reply:We have a lovely dog named Sydney. We call her Syd for short and have never had any confusion between "Syd" and "sit."

I think Sydney is a great name for a dog!
Reply:I personally think you would be fine, you may have to enounceate for a while to differentiate the two, but should be ok.

I like the name Sydney
Reply:Yes, those two words are too closely related. They would confuse the pup. Maybe you can just choose another word to teach him for sit, such as "park it"...
